11-08-2010 Cavaco Silva: 'Examples like these can lead people to action'
The Portuguese president Aníbal Cavaco Silva, visited the DNA Corporate Nest in the scope of the 'Roteiro das Comunidades Locais Inovadoras' (Route of Innovative Local Communities). The visit was accompanied by the Mayor of Cascais, António d'Orey Capucho, and the president of DNA Cascais and Deputy Mayor, Carlos Carreiras.
Highlighting the role of DNA Cascais as a local project contributing for the improvement of society's life conditions, the president claimed 'we should put forward these good examples that can be replicated in other parts of the country and reinforce trust, leading people to action. For this reason, I am pleased to visit DNA Cascais, an agency providing a structure designed for helping entrepreneurs since the birth of the idea through to financing and success in the market'.
Carlos Carreiras stated '[it is] with great honour that we receive His Excellency the President of the Republic at the DNA Corporate Nest. For us, this represents the acknowledgement of the Agency's role as an agent for change in attitudes, leading residents to believe that they may create their businesses successfully, and thus contribute for making Cascais a more positive municipality.'
During the visit, Cavaco Silva was able to meet some of the companies located at the DNA Corporate Nest and make contact with entrepreneurs developing their businesses in the municipality.
Integrated in the 'Roteiro das Comunidades Locais Inovadoras', this visit aimed at encouraging communities to take an active role in the country's economic recovery through the strengthening of both the role played by residents and the competitive capability of small and medium-sized enterprises for acting in non-domestic markets.
The 'Roteiro das Comunidades Locais Inovadoras' is an initiative from the Presidency of the Republic and the fourth day's journey took place between 12 and 13 July It aims to promote the image of and stimulate initiatives and projects that contribute for the improvement of life conditions in local communities by their capacity for innovation in the economic, entrepreneurial, social, cultural or environmental domains.
