'Ollivus

To create a high-quality olive oil – that was the idea behind ‘Ollivus’, a project created one year ago with the help of DNA Cascais. João Schmidt was the promoter of this brand, especially conceived for the national and international gourmet markets.

How and when was the ‘Ollivus’ project born?

This brand was created because its promoter, João Schmidt has been an olive farmer for many years in the Upper Douro region (in the DOP – Trás-os-Montes Olive Oil geographic area).

How is it defined?

This business includes production, bottling, packaging and selling of pre-selected batches of superior quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil (very low acidity and peroxides), under the brand ‘Ollivus’, and aimed exclusively at national and international gourmet markets.

How important was DNA Cascais in creating the company?

Crucial. Without DNA Cascais, the startup of this business would not have been possible.

What are the future perspectives for the project?

Our perspectives are very good. Not only was ‘Ollivus’ awarded for its quality, olive oil consumption and gourmet markets are continually expanding worldwide. It is only natural that the promoter’s future strategy includes product segmentation and diversification into other products, always using the same raw material – olives. Eventually, ‘Ollivus’ shall become a reference for the great quality of its products.
